What documents are required?

A passport with at least 6 months until its expiry date is required by all except:
  • Holders of a Laissez-Passer issued by the Immigration Department in Nicosia.
  • Document issued to stateless persons and recognised refugees.
  • Citizens of the European Union countries, including Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway may enter Cyprus with their national identity card (this must have the bearer's photograph).
Admission and transit restrictions:

The Government of the Republic of Cyprus refuses admission to:

  • Holders of Former Yugoslav Republic’s passports bearing a renewal stamp with the name “Macedonia”. Entry is only allowed to holders of Yugoslav passports without the above-mentioned stamp.
  • Holders of “passports” issued illegally by the secessionist entity, the so-called “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”. Other nationalities having stamps or visas of the so-called “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” in their passports are only allowed to enter Cyprus after the above-mentioned visas/stamps are cancelled by the Immigration Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.
  • For those intending to be employed in Cyprus the issue of an employment permit by the Migration Officer is required and no visa is required in order to travel to Cyprus.
Who needs a visa?

A visa is required by any person entering Cyprus except the following:

  • Nationals of Britain, Australia, Canada, USA, Other EU, Japan for a stay of up to 90 days;
  • Nationals of Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Korea (Rep), Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Uruguay, Vatican City, Venezuela, and Special Administrative Regions of the Peoples’ Republic of China: Hong Kong and Macao for a stay of up to 90 days;
  • Passengers in transit continuing their onward journey by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours provided holding valid onward or return documentation and not leaving the airport.
